Archers trump Eagles!
While I'm not as gifted with words as soloflite, the game between Ateneo and DLSU was, as usual, a battle between titans.
The rivalry between these two schools is older than me (I'm young so don't bother asking my age :p) Yesterday's game proved to be no different. Each team played with all their heart, but in the end DLSU's drive allowed them to beat Ateneo's 7 game streak (DLSU now has an 8 game winning streak). While Ateneo had an incredible streak during the start of the UAAP season, one could see that the wins were usually a come-from-behind sort of game. None of the games of Ateneo gave them commanding leads from the start. This is not necessarily bad since it shows that Ateneo's strenght comes in the 2nd half of the game. Unfortunately, relying on second winds is not very prudent and if you can't get your second wind, the game is lost. Some people say Ateneo peaked too early in the season and ran out of steam during the latter part but I'll that judgement to others.
DLSU on the other hand had average games during the start of the season; they won some, they lost some. During the latter portion of the season, La Salle suddenly poured all its heart into the fight, matching Ateneo's 7 winning game streak. What caused this to happen I don't know but I congratulate the team for persevering even in the face of all the opposition.
Last Sunday's game was a best of 2. If Ateneo won, they probably would have won the 2nd game as well. Ateneo is known (in my opinion) for getting sudden strength after beating an opponent in the first game. Unfortunately for Ateneo, La Salle only needed to beat them once. And beat them they did. Ateneo is now eliminated from the finals and DLSU will now fight on thursday for the championship.
Kudos to Ateneo for One Big Fight, but it looks like it was trumped by Animo La Salle.
